Melissa Summers is the Planning & Assignment Editor at News 12 New Jersey. Previously, she wrote and managed news12.com as the Interactive Producer. A graduate of Roxbury High School, she spent several summers as a photojournalist for news outlets such as WVIR-TV, The Roxbury Register, and The Daily Record while completing her bachelor’s degree at James Madison University. She then began her career at CNN World Headquarters in Atlanta, working through the ranks for 11 years to a position on the National Desk. She also worked on the Assignment Desk at CBS Atlanta before coming back home to New Jersey in 2013. Melissa’s work at CNN earned her a National Emmy in 2002, as well as Peabody Awards for her coverage of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and the 2008 Presidential Election. Melissa's primary responsibilities at News 12 include corresponding with PR, communications and marketing representatives and seeking out story ideas. She also assigns news crews for day-to-day and extended coverage throughout the state. Melissa is proud to be raising a family in Roxbury, and looks forward to helping future grads achieve careers in journalism, communications, or public relations. Tim Guella is the Director of Social Media for Centenary University’s Social Media Center of Expertise | #theVIBE. Within this role, Tim oversees #theVIBE’s two modern technology centers in Hackettstown & Parsippany, NJ. #theVIBE’s Social Media Marketing Program at Centenary University is the first of its kind in the tri-state area, amd Tim's experience building online brands - for companies large and small - has helped to shape #theVIBE into a cutting-edge program. Through his leadership, #theVIBE’s Social Media Marketing Program has become a top program at Centenary and students have worked with 50+ organizations. Tim holds a MBA and BA in History from Centenary University. Chris Dacey is a journalism student at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. Dacey is a graduate from Roxbury High School, where he served as a member of Gaelvision covering many Roxbury Athletics event. He was also the editor for the sports section of the Roxbury Review. At Quinnipiac, Dacey is the production manager for the student-run television station, Q30 Television. As a freshman, Dacey became an associate producer of the show Sports Paws. He later became the executive producer of Sports Paws in his sophomore year. In the summer of 2018, Dacey also worked at MLB Advanced Media. Dacey is currently an intern at Mohegan Sun Sports working with the Black Wolves. He also serves as Quinnipiac men’s basketball and lacrosse reporter for Q30 Television. He is responsible for creating content and covering these two teams. Whitney Godwin graduated from West Virginia University's Reed College of Media in 2011 with a BSJ degree. During her time at WVU, she served as a Feature Twirler for the "Pride of West Virginia," the Mountaineer Marching Band. She also worked in sports production for WVU's Mountaineer Sports Network. While completing her MSJ at WVU, she worked for NIOSH and the CDC, shooting and editing research videos. Whitney currently works in public relations at WVU as their Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator. Additionally, Whitney works in sports production as a freelance replay operator for WVU Athletics, as well as other major sports networks in the region, including Root Sports. Stan Sher is the founder of Social Sher, a social media and PR firm dedicated to serving businesses all over the United States. A resident of New Jersey, he has spent many years working in the automotive retail industry, growing into various high-level positions. In 2010, he launched his first business, Dealer eTraining, which is a national sales training, and business consulting firm. It was the branding success of Dealer eTraining's launch that allowed him to shift his focus to social media and branding. He has successfully helped businesses in multiple industries get noticed through the power of social media. Sher is a speaker with a focus on sales strategy, marketing, and growth management. Additionally, he has been published in many automotive publications and digital marketing blogs. He will be discussing the importance of personal branding to get noticed so that more opportunities for a bright future are developed. Bob DeFillippo is a senior counselor with Zito Partners, a strategic marketing communications firm based in N.J., and teaches graduate courses in Strategic Communications, Crisis Communications, and Critical Business Skills for Corporate Communicators at NYU. In January 2019, he was elected Mayor of the Township Council in Roxbury, N.J. Bob served as Chief Communications Officer for Prudential Financial, Inc. for more than 20 years, retiring in 2015. He also served as the Director of Public Affairs for AARP in Washington, D.C., and was press secretary to N.Y. Congressman Hamilton Fish, Jr. Prior to that, he was a reporter and editor for newspapers in New York’s Hudson Valley. A frequent speaker at industry conferences, he has also served on the boards of several philanthropic and professional organizations, including the Page Society, Public Relations Society of America Foundation, the National Press Foundation, and WBGO Public Radio in Newark, N.J. Thomas R. Rondinella (M.F.A, New York University) is Professor of Media Production at Seton Hall University, teaching Film and Video Production. He is also Associate Dean of Undergraduate Students and Academic Affairs in the College of Communication and the Arts. He also serves as a mentor for the Raindance Institute online MA in Film for Staffordshire University in the U.K. Thomas is an award-winning independent film maker. He has edited sixteen feature films (including A Fool and his Money starring Sandra Bullock), written three produced feature films (All’s Fair starring George Segal and Sally Kellerman, Blades, A Girls’ Guide) directed three feature films (Blades, A Girls’ Guide and Scrappers) and produced five feature films (Charming Billy, Unholy starring Adrienne Barbeau and Nicholas Brendon, Morris County, Scrappers and Good Day for It starring Hal Holbrook.). His films have had national theatrical release, played in the major United States and international Film Festivals (including American Film Institute-Los Angeles, Chicago International, Northhampton, Edinboro, Scotland, Belfast, Ireland, RioFan in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Ft. Lauderdale) and aired on Cinemax, HBO, USA Network, Starz, Public Television, Fearnet.com, Netflix and the Independent Film Channel. In addition, Thomas is president of Catfish Studios which specializes in media production. He produced and directed the web cooking series, Cooking with Nonna and NJ Today with John McKeon. Rondinella was raised in West Orange, NJ and attended Seton Hall University as an undergraduate history major. Besides Seton Hall, he has taught at New York University, The New School, Kean University, William Paterson University, St. Peter’s College, and Felician College. Thomas and his wife, Sharon, Director of Campus Minister at Seton Hall Preparatory School make their home in West Orange, NJ. They are parents of three adult children, Laura, Rebecca and Julia. Bob Albrecht has been part of the College Outreach team with Academy of Art University Since September 2018. Academy of Art University is the largest and oldest Design School in the United States. The university was founded in 1929 in San Francisco by the Stevens family. The family still runs the school today (our current President is the grand daughter of the founders of the school). AAU offers 30 (soon to be 31) degrees (Associate, Bachelor and Master’s) both on Campus and On-line. We are also the only Design School that has NCAA sports. We are division 2 in the PacWest conference. Bob is a graduate of Roxbury High school and still resides in Morris County with his wife and 2 daughters. He graduated from William Paterson University with a degree in Political Science and also graduated from Dover Business College with a certificate in PC Support and Network Engineering. Bob has also owned and operated a mobile DJ business, Fantasy Productions DJ’s for the last 25 years. Before working with the Academy of Art University, Bob also represented the Art Institutes (2008-2014) and Full Sail University (2014-2016) When he isn’t working, Bob likes to play ice hockey (go Rangers) and read. David Pallant is an Associate Professor for public relations and speech at the County College of Morris' communications department. In the past, Pallant was part of the advertising team at Spike TV, and also worked as a video contractor for Google during the years where the company had just acquired YouTube and was developing the Android phone. Pallant was also a staff member for Howard Dean's presidential campaign, which unleashed the power of the Internet and social media as a political tool. Pallant earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and his master’s degree in communication arts from the New York Institute of Technology. Pallant is a professional with an insider's view in the world of communications and media. He is focused on teaching students how to remain relevant in a world where change is the only certainty, and believes teaching is where his true passion lies. He is also an award-winning journalist, having written for notable publications such as: The New York Times, The Brooklyn Rail, Time, The Hollywood Reporter, The Brooklyn Eagle, Earth Island Journal, The Leader, and New Jersey Monthly. In 2011, Soltes launched the online entertainment magazine Hollywood Soapbox, which has also received awards. Soltes earned his bachelor's degree from Rutgers University, and went on the receive his master's degree from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. After finishing his studies, Soltes was also selected as a fellow in the Carnegie-Knight Initiative on the Future of Journalism Education. Soltes has an insider view on the global industry of journalism and media, having interned for Time Asia, taken part in the Berlin Capital Program for the German Fulbright Commission, and having participated in “The Church Up Close,” an in-depth journalistic look at the Roman Catholic Church, hosted by the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome. At CCM, Soltes also co-chairs The Legacy Project, an interdisciplinary initiative built on the remembrance of social movements, historical figures and important eras in world history. The production team is involved of students from the RHS media program's Television 2 students. This year, the students received assistance from RHS alum, Mark Leibowitz, who runs his own video production company, Leibowitz Productions. Read more about the "Every 15 Minutes" program here. He has been a guest on several radio stations and programs, including 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia, 93.7 The Fan KDKA in Pittsburgh, Yahoo! Sports Radio and The Doug Gottlieb Show. He previously worked for Gannett New Jersey at The Vineland Daily Journal from 1998 to 2001, where he covered high school, college and pro sports, including the Philadelphia Eagles. |
